I’ve just had the chance to watch Louis CK weigh in with his opinion on the Daniel Tosh rape joke fiasco on The Daily Show - let me repeat that.
The issue of rape jokes is men vs women.
The way we talk about a violent crime is an adversarial issue between all men and all women.
How did we become a society that treats what is obviously a bad thing as a polarising issue? Are there really people out there who are fuzzy on the whole rape=violation/horrific/illegal=bad idea? No? Then why, when people start making light of the traumatic experience of one person and the serious crime of another, are we expected to fall into two groups with men speaking out in defence of the rapists?
How is this issue even gendered?
This is an issue of sociopaths versus the rest of us.
